Take better Travel photographs Part 2

Shoot local events:
* find out local events, research your area
* use long focal length and wide angle
* photograph crowds
* capture candid portraits
* show colours

* photograph people and produce
* capture people in action
* capture colour and create abstract photos
* wide angle shots
* be patient, don't rush your photos
* capture candid photographs


Photograph reflections:
* capture interesting shapes that are the reflections create
* concentrate on colour and patterns
* use light to your advantage



Focus on architectural details:
* close-up of architectural details
* diffused or cloudy light is better for revealing subtle details and textures in the buildings
* experiment with direct and directional light to create interesting and moody shoots


Photograph candid portraits:
* capture local interest
* remember to keep an eye on your background and light

Tip 10:

Follow a shooting plan, always check:

* battery level
* ISO
* metering mode; centre, spot or multi metering mode
* exposure; check in the view finder that the scene is not over or under exposed
* compensation; decide if you need exposure compensation
* find the best viewpoint
* roughly check exposure and framing before pressing the shutter release
* use filters if needed for that particular shot
* check camera is focused on the right spot
* wait for the right moment before shooting

Take better Travel photographs Part 1

Here are a few tips to improve your travel photography

Photograph transport:
* capture trains, cars, taxis
* move closer to your subjects
* capture abstract shapes
* photograph action shots
* use available light or fill-in flash if needed


Photograph shop windows and signs:
* capture signs
* shop windows
* photograph signs at night


Change your viewpoint:
* look out for different viewpoints
* move closer to the building
* photograph the whole building



Think about the detail:
* stain glassed windows
* texture in the doors or windows
* move closer to capture to photograph door handles



Photograph the local landmark
* capture the local landmarks, use wide angle lens
